Advance Tickets Now On Sale for Guilford Plays

Advance Tickets Available for Guilford Plays

General Admission tickets are now available for the Guilford Center Stage premiere of two one-act plays by Guilford author Michael Nethercott.  Nocturne Titanica is a unique take on the sinking of the Titanic. The Lace Jury is based on the first American all-women jury of the 20th century.  Interestingly, the historic events on which the plays are based happened within 6 months of each other in 1911 and 1912.

There will be three performances: Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm, and a matinee on Sunday, June 5 at 2 pm.

Last fall’s inaugural production at Guilford Center Stage played to full houses, so, advance ticket purchase is recommended.  General Admission is $10, with a small service fee for Brown Paper Tickets, through which advance tickets are being sold.  This is also the only way to use a credit card to purchase tickets.  Order online at http://bpt.me/2533572, or call toll-free 1-800-838-3006.   As available, remaining tickets will be on sale at the door.

A cast of 20 area actors will present this fully-staged production, directed by the playwright.

Broad Brook Grange created Guilford Center Stage to bring theater to the stage in its historic building, emphasizing plays with local connections.

Please note that the theater is up a flight of stairs. Not recommended for small children.

Broad Brook Grange will present its 20th annual Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 8, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Grange hall in Guilford Center.  The proceeds from the event support maintenance of the historic building.

The all-you-can-eat brunch features eggs and omelettes, any style, made to order.  Also on the menu are  pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon and home fries, with Guilford maple syrup.  Other treats include home-baked coffee cakes and other baked goods, fresh fruit salad, and bread for toasting.  A selection of juices  will be available, along with coffee, teas and milk.

The Grange hall serves as a community center for Guilford, hosting meetings, General Election polling, The Guilford Food Pantry every Thursday, Green-Up Day — the day before the brunch — and the new theater project, Guilford Center Stage.  The organization also provides an annual scholarship to a college-bound Guilford student, and a dictionary to every 3rd grader at the local school.

No reservations are necessary for the meal, which is priced at $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, and $5 for ages 2-12. Kids under two are free.

This event is the first of two brunches for 2016, and will be followed by a similar event on Father’s Day. Broad Brook Grange is at 3940 Guilford Center Road, 4 miles west of the Guilford Country Store.  For more information, call (802) 257-1961.
