On Saturday, June 14, Friends of Music at Guilford presents its 48th season finale at Guilford Community Church. A brief and merry membership meeting kicks off at 6:00 p.m., followed at 6:30 by an All-Community Potluck Dinner and at 7:30 by an A Cappella Concert featuring three diverse regional performing groups. The 10-voice Guilford Chamber Singers are led by Tom Baehr in a program of 19th and 20th-century part-songs, as well as the premiere of four new works by Baehr that were set to texts of entertaining epitaphs, including one from nearby Vernon. The WhatAreWeDoingThis Four, a barbershop-style quartet spanning from Guilford to Springfield, Vt., is performing “What’ll I Do?” by Irving Berlin (1924), “Turn Your Radio On” by Albert Brumley (1938), and “I Only Have Eyes for You” by Al Dubin and Harry Warren (1934), among other selections familiar and not so well known. Honest Harmony, directed by former Guilford resident Ijod Schroeder (one of the singers), is a quartet of Pioneer Valley residents with various credentials in vocal and instrumental music as well as theater and historical dance; for this program they offer French and Itlaian madrigals and drinking songs. A dessert reception caps the evening. The public is welcome to choose one, two, or all three items on the evening’s menu; admission is free, with donations welcome.
